This was one of our favourite spots. We went just after each of the two bombs and found it to be really quiet and relaxed, especially Ubud, the cultural heart of the island. The third time we were less impressed. It was much more developed (which is good thing for the locals) but it meant it was busier and less charming. Full of trust-a-farians! There is nothing worse than white people with dreads. All on a spiritual year-off before going back to work as a full time wanker somewhere, driving up prices everywhere they go.
Still, it is really beautiful, relaxed and reasonably hassle-free.
